PROJECT ADOPTION

Project Computers for Zambian Schools Funding Amount $5000

Project Defined We are looking to continue the introduction of computer technology into Zambian schools. We started the program in 2006 and have thus far been able to introduce the use of computers into schools and hospitals becoming the first organization in Zambia to do in in primary schools in the western province and the first to do in a nursing college in the north-western province. Following the success of our initial effort we hope to acquire additional equipment for our community partners. We now expanding the program to include computer literacy training for teachers, hospital staff and out of school youth. This will help ensure people do not only have access to technology but the necessary skill as well. Enabling them to make effective use of technology.

Project Needs In order for people to make use of technology, they must have access to it. Unfortunately, Zambian schools do not have easy access to technology, a situation that leaves them far behind the developmental advances brought on by technology and advances in technology. The funds will be used to source equipment for our community partners in Zambia being schools and hospitals. The objective is to address the issue of access. We have so far introduced ICT use into twelve institutions in Zambia and we are looking to add four more in 07-08.
