PROJECT ADOPTION
  
Project Scorebard Funding Amount $5000
  
Project Defined New or updated scoreboard, hopefully electronic. ESTIMATED COST: $2000 to $5600.00. The existing scoreboard has been in place for quite a while and is in disrepair. The existing scoreboard is not electronic, it is one in which the numbers are hung. Placement of this board is such that during evening games, you cannot see the score at all. The board has begun rotting and will likely need to be replaced prior to August 2009.
  
Project Needs The NK Pee Wee Association supports nearly 300 children in our community during football season alone. We have a cheer squad and a basketball club to support as well, all of which have grown substantially in size over the past two years. This year we have had to spend an additional $20,000 on equipment and much needed repairs. This expense has placed us in a very uncomfortable monetary situation as we now have a serious budget deficit. The organization expanded into the Kingston area to accommodate the addition of 75 new players and 3 new teams. This expansion was both exciting and a bit of a burden for our organization. Currently, we charge $120 registration for each football player and equipment costs exceed $220 per child. Due to the shortage of safety equipment for these new players, we do not have enough money coming in to cover these purchases. With the bulk of our money coming from registration fees, this makes keeping the organization afloat throughout each season a bit of a struggle. Unlike many other Pee Wee organizations, we do not turn players away. We feel that everyone deserves a chance to learn valuable life skills and to act as a contributing member of a team. Anyone who has played team sports as a child will remember the impact that the Pee Wee experience had on them. We understand the importance of commitment and camaraderie in a child’s life, which is why we have sought out help from our community. The money will be used to purchase and install a new electronic scoreboard, including obtaining the necessary permits and to pay for any labor that has not been donated by the members of the organization.
