PROJECT ADOPTION
  
Project Park and Garden Beautification Funding Amount $5000
  
Project Defined There is a great need for safe, open air playing areas for community children and youth. Also, in an effort to encourage, physical activity, healthy eating and positive character development, this playground and garden area will greatly complement the brand new middle school erected south of our facilities, opening this fall, 2010. We wish to provide positive alternatives for parents escorting their children to school who may have young children and there will be after school options for elementary and middle school aged children.
  
Project Needs Children’s playground and gardening area needs a lot of TLC; safety inspection of play equipment, replacement of mulch in play area for environmentally safe material. Gardening area which has fruit trees and other edible vegetation, as well as grass areas are in need of a watering system, preferably, a drip system for water conservation and lower utility costs. To prevent basketball from striking adjacent neighbor’s building, some type of fencing is needed, which would also allow access to the wall for painting a mural to reflect the community and its youth.
