PROJECT ADOPTION

Project Providing Basic Needs for Newcomer Immigrants Funding Amount $2000

Project Defined The International Institute of Boston (IIB) fosters the success of immigrants and refugees in the Unites States by providing a range of comprehensive professional and cultural services. The Social Services department at IIB provides counseling, community education and support, consultation and assistance for victims of trauma torture and crime. Social workers find it important to help clients meet concrete needs in the course of meeting clients' mental health needs. These needs are generally not met by current funding sources, so we are seeking funds to help social workers provide basic necessities to clients who are in great need.

Project Needs In addition to providing counseling services, our social workers help immigrants to access concrete services. Some of the clients we serve are homeless and in need of basic necessities such as soap, tooth paste, tooth brush, shampoo, toilet paper, feminine hygiene products, new towels, and sheets. The project funds would be used to purchase $20 gift certificates to be used at Family Dollar Stores. This would enable clients to obtain these much needed items.
